Sidebar Widgets

Sidebar widgets are small editable content blocks that can be added to the left sidebar of any editable page on your website. You can use Sidebar Widgets to add text, images, Flash, or any other type of content that you can work with using the LogicCMS. When a sidebar widget is added to a page, it will appear below the quick search form on the left side of the page (unless you choose to hide the quick search for that page). You can add promotional graphics, useful information, and more to any page you like using this simple tool.

Creating a Sidebar Widget

1. Select the CMS tab on the back end of your website
2. Click the Sidebar Widgets sub-item
3. Click “Create New”
4. Enter the title of the sidebar widget
5. In the body content, enter your content just like you would in a standard content block – information on adding and editing content can be found elsewhere in this guide. Keep in mind that this content block will only occupy the width of the quick search form – do not add images or other objects that exceed this width for optimal results
6. To add HTML to a Sidebar Widget, click the SOURCE tool icon in your toolbar. Paste your HTML code while SOURCE is selected, then hit the SOURCE button again to show your HTML as it will render on the site
7. After adding content, click “Create” to save your changes

** Note: Sidebar widgets are 180px wide. Also, the use of Javascript is not allowed with the Sidebar Widgets tool, and attempting to add Javascript will result in an error message. This is true of any content block.

Applying a Sidebar Widget to a page

1. Choose which page or pages you want add a sidebar widget to
2. Select the CMS tab on the back end of your website
3. The Pages sub-item opens by default
4. For any pages you wish to add a sidebar widget to, click “Sidebar Widgets” in the editing menu shown to the right of the page name
5. Click “Create New”
6. Choose which widget you wish to display on the page from the dropdown menu, then click “Create”
7. If you want to add multiple widgets, repeat this process to add as many as you want
   After adding your sidebar widget to a page, it is available on the front end of your website immediately.
